Vintners Inn and John Ash & Co. Restaurant will host the 3rd annual Artisano celebration on November 18 & 19, 2011. Mother Nature has been kind for the past two years, providing plenty of sunshine for this special celebration. Rain or shine, this event benefitting Slow Food Sonoma County North is not to be missed.
Artisano gives visitors and locals an opportunity to celebrate local wine, food, and art created by artists of each genre who handcraft their creations. Artisano promises outstanding discoveries whether attending the Winemaker Dinner, Grand Tasting, or Harvest Dinner.
The Winemaker Dinner on Friday, November 18th at John Ash & Co. Restaurant invites guests to a five-course menu. Winemakers will guide the dining experience as guests enjoy each wine perfectly paired with each course. The evening begins with a course paired with 2008 Lazy Creek Vineyards Gewurtztraminer followed by a second course paired with Munselle Vineyards 2008 Shadrach Chardonnay. Next, Foursight Wines 2007 All-In Charles Vineyard Pinot Noir is paired with a delicious Fall Mushroom Risotto. A stunning entrée of Roasted Rack of Sonoma Lamb served with Sour Cream Whipped Potatoes and Braised Baby Carrots is paired exquisitely with Montemaggiore 2007 Paolo’s Vineyard Syrah. Dinner ends with Marin French Cheese Company Brie baked in phyllo and paired with 2005 Garden Creek Vineyards Tesserae.
The Grand Tasting at the Vintners Inn Event Center on Saturday, November 19th is an afternoon spent tasting wines from over 30 artisan wineries, enjoying local cuisine from over 25 highly acclaimed local restaurants and gourmet food purveyors, watching entertaining cooking demonstrations by local celebrity chefs, and discovering majestic art from local artists. The talented Susan Comstock Swingtet will perform adding to the joy of the celebration. There will be a Silent Auction with incredible finds.
The Grand Tasting list of wineries includes Capture Wines, Stark Wine, and Verge Wine Cellars. The list of restaurants includes Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen, Petite Syrah, and Spoonbar. Food purveyors include Costeaux French Bakery, Jimtown Store, and Salt Side Down Chocolates.
Adding to the selection of diverse and delicious wine and food is the amazing selection of art. This year, artists in attendance include Amy Halko, Linda Schroeter, Nancy Roberts, and more. Amy Halko Ceramics combines beauty with functionality. Each one-of-a-kind piece is made from porcelain clay and decorated by hand using colorful glazes. The paintings of Linda Schroeter capture more than images. While gazing at her paintings you can hear the zebra rear up, the giraffe lick its mouth, and the heartbeat of the leopard. Nancy Roberts creates pieces of fused glass that are intricate and magical. The array of colors, dimensions, and shapes are fascinating.
Following the Grand Tasting, the Harvest Dinner on Saturday evening at John Ash & Co. Restaurant is another feast for the senses. The three-course family-style menu includes a main course of Smoked Gleason Ranch Pork Loin, Roaster Liberty Duck Breast, and Butternut Squash Ravioli. Dinner will feature wine pairings with Grand Tasting wines.
