The winery rests among its vineyards and one-acre, expansive garden. Along with approximately 120 raised beds of organic produce, the garden area also includes a prep tower and a chicken coop. Quivira uses these areas of its estate to educate visitors during special tours demonstrating Quivira’s use of Biodynamic practices. The garden is also open to visitors to explore freely. Shaded seating outside the winery offers an unobstructed view of the estate vineyards and nearby mountains.

Quivira’s wines begin as biodynamically farmed grapes. Biodynamic farming promotes a healthy vineyard without the use of chemicals or insecticides. In turn, Quivira wines truly reflect the land from where they come from.

And the wines? Superb! Their current tasting flight begins with the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, Fig Tree Vineyard. Perfect on a warm, sunny day. Crisp with tropical flavors. Next, 2011 Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley. A deliciously classic Zinfandel. Compare it to the next Quivira wine on the list, 2011 “Quest” Zinfandel featuring darker fruit notes with an inkling of oak and spice. Working your way to a fuller wine is the 2011 Mourvedre, Dry Creek Valley with dark cherry flavors and a touch of pepper. The flight ends with a classic, wonderfully full-bodied 2010 Syrah, Dry Creek Valley.
