At Dutton-Goldfield Winery, it’s all about the experience. This includes the authenticity of their wines, and the unsurpassed hospitality in their Tasting Room.
TWO FRIENDS CREATE A WINERY
One day, in 1998, two longtime friends and colleagues realized that they both shared a passion for crafting wines that deliciously expressed the characteristics of the vineyards they came from, and that they would enjoy drinking at their own dinner tables. With a handshake in a vineyard followed by a couple hundred cases of wine kept in the garage of one of the friends, Dutton-Goldfield Winery was born. A partnership between grape grower Steve Dutton, and winemaker, Dan Goldfield, Dutton-Goldfield produces world-class, award-winning, critically acclaimed wines. A reliable source tells me that the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir made in 1998 still tastes very good in 2016.

ABOUT THE PEOPLE
Dan Goldfield has been making Pinot Noir and mentoring Pinot Noir winemakers for 30 years. Some of the infamous local winemakers that have studied under Dan’s guidance are Jeff Mangahas, winemaker at Williams Selyem, Mike Sullivan at Benovia, Greg LaFollette of LaFollette Wines, and Jeff Stewart at Hartford Family wines. Dan is an avid hiker, skier and cyclist and often finds potential new vineyard sites while on bike rides.
Steve Dutton is a 5th generation farmer. His father, Warren, was the first to plant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Western Russian River Valley in the 1960’s. Steve started farming with his father at the age of five. Once recognized as Sonoma County’s “Young Farmer of the Year,” Steve now manages the vineyards, organizes vineyard crews, and assists with winery marketing and winery management.
