In the beginning, there was a vision. Francis Ford Coppola wanted to create a special place, “a wine wonderland, a park of pleasure where people of all ages can enjoy all the best things in life – food, wine, music, dancing, games, swimming, and performances of all types. A place to celebrate the love of life.” That vision was turned into a reality when Francis Ford Coppola Winery opened its doors in the heart of Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley Wine Country in 2010.
A WINE WONDERLAND
Guests ascend the Grand Staircase and are immediately transported into Coppola Winery’s “wine wonderland,” surrounded by the winery’s sustainably farmed vineyards. This remarkable wonderland includes wine tasting bars, a full bar, a Movie Gallery with movie memorabilia, performing arts Pavilion, Park area with game tables and bocce courts, two swimming pools totaling 3,600 square feet, and two restaurants.
WINE EXPERIENCES
All wine tasting experiences are hosted by an educated and entertaining member of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery staff. Along with a variety of tastings, guests will also find unique experiences. The Sonomabulistic experience shares soil samples and wines from different areas in Sonoma County. The Matchmaker experience leaves guests with a knowledge of the science behind the relationship between food and wine. Tasting in the Dark allows guests to experience the effects of the aromas and tastes of wines without the use of their sense of sight as they are led through a tasting while blindfolded. Enjoy a sneak peek at the winery’s state-of-the-art bottling facility with the Bottling Ballet Mecanique Tasting. On this experience, guests also learn about the winery’s vineyard practices, the stories behind each wine label, and more.
RUSTIC, FRANCIS’S FAVORITES
The winery’s full-service restaurant serves international and Italian dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients, including those from the winery’s organic herb and produce garden. Guests choose from indoor or outdoor dining on the terrace. Rustic is the recipient of multiple awards, including those for ambiance, scenic views, and outdoor dining.
