After the time and energy spent caring for the soil and the plant, and protecting them from disease and predators, a beautiful and delicious reward grows to ripeness, ready to be plucked by dedicated hands. The excitement fills the gardener with joy and prompts a celebration – work hard, play hard and share the bounty with friends. This is the spirit of harvest time in Northern California’s Wine County.

The View from Gundlach Bundschu’s Bungalow

One Sonoma winery sharing the happiness of this special season is Gundlach Bundschu. Their Wine Club Member Harvest Party on September 10, 2011 offers the choice between celebrating all day or just for the evening.

For those celebrating all day, the morning begins with an unforgettable seminar from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Vineyard Manager, Towle Merritt will guide guests into the vineyard for a better understanding of Merlot grapes. Next, Lead Associate Winemaker, Anne Dempsey, hosts a sit-down tasting and Continental Breakfast in the Bungalow.

The evening festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with one of three appetizers served every 20 minutes paired with a Gundlach Bundschu wine. Winemaker, Keith Emerson, will host a three-course dinner perfectly paired with more impeccable Gundlach Bundschu wines.

A Beautiful Gundlach Bundschu Vineyard

At 8 p.m. the celebration includes wine club members and all fans of Gundlach Bundschu ready to dance at the Shake Your Bundschu Dance Party in the winery’s Courtyard. An expected 400 guests will gather to purchase Gundlach Bundschu wines to quench their thirst while they move to the 80’s New Wave tunes of The Spazmatics. All guests are encouraged to dress in their best 80’s attire. Wine club members who attend any part of the earlier Harvest Party will have access to a VIP area during the dance party where Gundlach Bundschu will generously provide complimentary pours. This is an event that captures the blissful release of a fruitful and hard-earned harvest.
