Napa Riverfront

Most of us do our best to help the community year-round. Yet the holidays bring extra motivation, and Napa artist Michael Holmes is making giving back even more inspirational. And easy.

Riverfront Santa Chair (Small)Holmes has designed a one-of-a-kind “Season for Caring” display to help Napa locals and visitors give back during the holiday season. Set near the Riverfront’s “big chair” throughout the month of December, it’s a big, beautiful display featuring donation storage for a variety of charities like Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Napa Humane Society, COPE Family Center; Napa Food Bank and Community Action Napa Valley.

Visitors can simply step up, and offer one-stop monetary donations, or drop off “wish list” items viewed on the charity’s websites.

And there are more reasons to visit the display. Businesses along the Riverfront are hosting “Joy to Thursdays” from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on December 5, 12 and 19, when all restaurants and shops will offer a variety of specials. Guests can also enjoy rides through Downtown Napa in horse-drawn carriages, plus free photo opportunities with Santa in the “big chair,” and complimentary hot chocolate from Sweetie Pies.

Riverfront Horse Rides (Small)On Sunday, Dec. 15 starting at 11:30 a.m., the Napa River will be covered with decorated boats, canoes, kayaks and even paddle boarders, for the “Santas on the River” spectacular parade. Anyone can enter a “sleigh float,” (application is here), and attendees can vote for their favorite to win a variety of prizes donated by Napa’s Riverfront merchants.

It’s so simple to share – just make plans to stop by Napa, and remember to bring your camera (and wallet).
