A good, red, full-bodied wine too dark to see through and tasting of dark fruit and chewy tannins is not for everyone – but it is for me. Whenever I’m out wine tasting with a group of friends that includes white wine drinkers, I always include a stop at Hop Kiln Winery. Hop Kiln makes both red and white wine varietals that consistently earn smiles. Until recently there was just one lovely location to taste and purchase Hop Kiln wines.

Hop Kiln Winery’s New HKG Tasting Room in Glen Ellen

Sonoma County Wine Country continues to thrive! Hop Kiln Winery has a new tasting room in Glen Ellen. Visitors continue to be invited daily for wine tastings, Hop Kiln’s gourmet treats, and picnics at the historic winery in Healdsburg; however, tastings at the Glen Ellen location focus on Hop Kiln’s HKG wines, Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hop Kiln Winemaker Chuck Mansfield

The Hop Kiln team including Vineyard Manager David Smith and winemaker Chuck Mansfield worked hard to create the estate-grown HKG (Hop Kiln Grown) wines. Since 2004 HKG wines have earned praise from critics including The Wine Spectator and The Pinot Report.

Since their first vintage released in 1976, Hop Kiln wines have included award-winning blends with incredible flavor. Hop Kiln also creates Chardonnay, Grenache, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc.

A visit to the new tasting room allows visitors to taste some of Hop Kiln’s best estate HKG wines including a Pinot Grigio, Rose, Chardonnay, and the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Gold Medal winner – Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Estate 2008.
