Enter the new Parlour Petaluma, a “green” wedding planning company that helps happy couples recycle the good will and cheer from their celebration. The company also operates as an event planner, including day-of coordination, design, and specialty event rentals for statement accents like reusable wine barrel kegerators, apothecary jars to be featured as flower vases, and candy buffets that can double as favor tables.
To start, owner Megan Clark requests couples share all that tissue paper, ribbon, fabric and more that is usually thrown away after the big event. Then, she makes the spoils into craft projects like a long, flowing wall art masterpiece made of crumpled tissue and streamers that another couple can enjoy. In exchange, clients receive shop credit for purchases at her store.
Torn paper from gifts also has value, along with crepe paper streamers, paper lanterns, construction paper, paper doilies, burlap, twine, clothespins, and pompoms. And it’s not just weddings we should be thinking of, either, but birthday parties, anniversaries, showers and any special events that involve decorations.
For more traditional considerations, The Parlour boasts an events boutique brimming with samples and design inspiration from wine county’s top special event vendors. In tribute to its name, a parlor-style sitting area includes a vendor library, for catalogs on local caterers, photographers, florists, musicians, officiants, and other special event pros, plus a boudoir space for hair and make-up applications done by freelance stylists.

The reclaimed theme continues into The Parlour’s own inventory, as buttons rescued from vintage clothing are made into antique button bracelets, handcrafted right in Petaluma.
