Grapes grown in the proper soil, encouraged by the desired weather, and guided by the right hands, create the incredible, world-class wines that Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley has become well-known for.

Specializing in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Russian River Valley wineries are also highly regarded for other varietals. But, it’s the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that consistently earn high praise from wine critics and wine drinkers.

Don’t miss the annual event this month that celebrates the outstanding wines created in the Russian River Valley. The Russian River Valley Passport, presented by Russian River Valley Winegrowers on June 27th and June 28th, invites ticket holders to select exclusive experiences from over 30 acclaimed wineries.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on each day, visitors will taste limited and early releases paired with locally crafted foods, sample wines straight from the barrel, listen to live music, enjoy artist demonstrations, drop by wineries that are not usually open to the public, and enjoy special discounts on wine purchases.

This showcase of Russian River Valley wines also includes a very special VIP barbecue in the heart of Russian River Valley on Saturday evening. Guests will be able to mingle with winemakers and winegrowers while enjoying their food and wine.

Expect something special at whichever winery you choose to visit. Here are just a few of the options for the weekend.

At ACORN Winery/Alegria Vineyards, owner and winegrower Bill Nachbaur will walk the vineyard with guests. Benovia Winery will offer barrel samples of their sustainably farmed 2014 Martaella Vineyard Pinot Noir.
