Dunstan Wines’ Ellie Phipps-Price and Chris Towt create incredible Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from one vineyard, considered to be one of the top five vineyards in Sonoma County – Durell Vineyard. Pure Luxury recently had the honor of joining Ellie and Chris for a special, private, winemaker dinner at Sonoma’s Harvest Moon Cafe.

The first of a four course dinner began with 2011 Dunstan Chardonnay, Durell Vineyard, served with red butter lettuces salad with croutons and roasted garlic-parmesan vinaigrette. The group was astounded by the lovely crisp citrus scent and fruitful taste.

The second course of shaved fennel salad with ginger vinaigrette, Ahi tuna, and cilantro was perfectly paired with the flavorful 2013 Dunstan Rose, Durell Vineyard. As soon as the wine was poured, the indescribably wonderful aromas filled the air.

For the third course, it was time to enjoy the first of two Pinot Noirs for the evening. A Liberty Farm duck leg braised in sherry was served with red quinoa and sauteed Oregon mushrooms. The wine was 2011 Dunstan Pinot Noir, Durell Vineyard which received 90 points from Wine Spectator.

The final course of bittersweet chocolate pot de creme with whipped cream and a cocoa nib cookie was paired with 2009 Dunstan Pinot Noir, Durell Vineyard. The velvety texture of this full-bodied wine made for a delightfully decadent end to an amazing experience.
