Last night Pure Luxury was in attendance for a special celebration of the newly renovated Redwood Cellar & Hospitality Center at the historic Charles Krug Winery. Hosted by Charles Krug Winery, and presented by CANVAS (Concierge Alliance Napa and Sonoma Valley), there were plenty of delicious bites to sample from local restaurants and food purveyors along with impeccable Charles Krug wines.
Downstairs featured barbecue from Piper-Johnson Catering, soup shooters from Napkins Bar & Grill, lemongrass chicken lettuce cups from Empire, and spring garlic bisque and seared scallop spoon from Grapevine Catering. Montecristi Panama Hats displayed their genuine hand-woven straw hats and A Flying Camera provided their fun “Flipbooks” photo booth. Music was provided by Portable Party Crew. Artist, Penelope Moore from Penelope Moore Art demonstrated a live painting with her as the artist. The tasting bars, with walls lined with bottles of Charles Krug wines, served tastes of Charles Krug Chardonnay, Merlot, and more.
A smooth trip in the glass-walled elevator overlooking a barrel room, took guests to the upstairs level. The adventure continued with desserts, food, art, and more Charles Krug wines. The Bourbon bread pudding with Creme Fraiche by Cate & Co. was sweet and delicious. Costeaux French Bakery had three different dessert to try including lemon bars that left guests wanting more than one. Eikos couldn’t make their seared Albacore tuna tostadas fast enough. The cinnamon apple tacos and brownies prepared by Compadres Rio Grille were mouthwatering. The wide selection of flavors and colors of macaroons from La Marie were just as tasty as they were beautiful. Guest enjoyed their upstairs treats with Charles Krug Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and other Charles Krug wines.
In 1861, Charles Krug established the first commercial winery. By 1889, over 140 wineries were founded. Today, Charles Krug Winery continues to thrive under Peter Mondavi and his family.
